The History of Putting For Miracles: A Community Coming Together for Children

Putting For Miracles began with a simple idea: bring people together through golf, fun, and fellowship while raising money to help children and families in need.

What started as a small charity golf tournament in 2022 has grown into an annual community event supported by players, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, local businesses, and families. Each year has added a new chapter to the Putting For Miracles story, increasing participation, expanding community involvement, and raising more money for organizations that support children’s health and well-being.

The Original Event in 2022

The first Putting For Miracles event was held in 2022 as a charity miniature-golf tournament benefiting children’s causes through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Extra Life, and the Play Yellow fundraising initiative.

The inaugural event brought together more than 60 participants, nearly 30 sponsors, and one Miracle Family. Participants played across 36 holes, with more than 20 holes sponsored by generous businesses and community supporters.

Together, the event raised more than $5,100 for children’s healthcare.

The first tournament established the foundation for everything Putting For Miracles would become. It proved that a small group of people could make a meaningful difference by combining a fun community event with a mission that mattered.

Building Momentum in 2023

The 2023 event showed that Putting For Miracles was becoming a growing community tradition. More than 100 players participated, joined by more than 20 vendors, four food trucks, and dozens of volunteers.

The tournament also featured 36 sponsored holes, while many local businesses donated items for the raffle. These contributions helped create an enjoyable experience for attendees while supporting the event’s fundraising mission.

With the help of players, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and donors, the 2023 event raised more than $10,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hershey. The event’s success demonstrated the generosity of the community and created momentum for the larger tournaments that followed.

Growing Through 2024

The 2024 Putting For Miracles event continued to expand. More than 100 participants attended, along with approximately a dozen vendors and food trucks. More than 70 sponsors supported the tournament and helped make the event possible.

The weather presented a challenge, but the rain did not stop the community from showing up. Players, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters continued to participate despite the difficult conditions.

The event raised more than $11,500 for Extra Life, Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through Play Yellow. Even when conditions were not perfect, people remained committed to supporting children and families.

Continuing the Tradition in 2025

In 2025, Putting For Miracles built on the success of the previous two years. The event welcomed approximately 90 golfers, more than 100 sponsors, 25 vendors, and four food trucks.

The fundraiser raised more than $11,000 for Hudsen Memorial Ride, Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The 2025 event reflected the broad support behind Putting For Miracles. Golfers came to participate, businesses supported the tournament through sponsorships, vendors helped create a lively atmosphere, and volunteers contributed their time to make the day successful. By this point, Putting For Miracles had grown into a yearly gathering where the community could enjoy time together while supporting important children’s causes.

Reaching a New Milestone in 2026

The fifth annual Putting For Miracles event in 2026 continued the organization’s growth. More than 80 mini-golf players participated, while more than 130 sponsors supported the event.

The tournament also included more than 20 vendors and four food trucks, creating a family-friendly atmosphere filled with food, fellowship, and activities.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, the 2026 event raised $12,000. The funds were split among Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Hershey, Dakota’s Army, and Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.

More Than $49,600 Raised

Because the totals from 2022 through 2025 were reported as “more than” the listed amounts, the actual amount raised is even higher. Behind every dollar is a story of community support. Every registration, sponsorship, raffle donation, volunteer hour, and encouraging conversation has helped move the mission forward.

The People Behind the Mission

Putting For Miracles would not be possible without the people who continue to support it year after year.

Players bring energy and enthusiasm to the course. Sponsors help cover event costs and support fundraising efforts. Vendors and food trucks make the event more welcoming and enjoyable. Volunteers help organize the tournament and keep everything running smoothly. Local businesses donate raffle items and provide valuable community support.

Families also play an important role. Many people connected to Putting For Miracles understand personally how important children’s hospitals and family support organizations can be. Their experiences help remind everyone why the event matters. Together, these individuals and organizations have created an event built on compassion, community, and fun.
