About Dakota's Army
Dakota’s Army was founded in loving memory of seven year old Dakota Dixon, who bravely fought ATRT (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor), a rare and aggressive brain cancer. Dakota passed away on May 13, 2024, but his strength, love, and compassion continue to inspire everything we do. Before he passed, Dakota shared a simple but powerful wish: to help other kids who were fighting cancer feel loved, supported, and never alone.
Our mission is to honor Dakota’s legacy by bringing comfort to children across the country who are battling cancer. We create and ship “Dakota Duffles,” special care packages filled with meaningful items designed to brighten hospital stays, lift spirits, and remind young fighters that they have an Army behind them. These duffles are sent to kids nationwide at no cost to families.
In addition, Dakota’s Army hosts fundraisers for local families facing the financial and emotional challenges of childhood cancer. By rallying our community, we help ease the burden these families carry and stand beside them in their hardest moments. Our Dakota’s Army Facebook page is a place where we share updates and tell the stories of the brave children who are fighting cancer. It is a community built on love, support, and faith, filled with prayer warriors who lift these kids and their families up in constant prayer. Through every post and every shared story, our Facebook page helps create an Army of hope and love surrounding each child.
Dakota’s Army is more than a nonprofit; it is the legacy of a little boy’s big heart. Inspired by his love and courage, we continue his wish to help other children walking the same difficult journey he once faced. Every duffle sent and every family supported is part of Dakota’s lasting impact on the world.
